Significant progress has been made in the Cape Verde Islands over the last decade with the national squad regularly competing in international tournaments.
Notable wins include a 2-1 victory over Togo in the qualifying stage for the African Cup of Nations and beating Senegal at the Coupe Cabral in 2002.
In 2001, the Cape Verde Football Federation, Federação Caboverdiana de Futebol or FCF, received massive support from FIFA’s Goal Project and Financial Assistance Programme,
which included the construction of a technical centre along with an FIFA standard pitch. The centre provides the Federation with an HQ for the general administration and co-ordination of football, youth coaching activities, preparation camps for national teams prior to international matches and much more.
