Sal is a world-class location for kite surfing and perfect for medium to advanced riders and waves sailors.
Conditions
The north-easterly trade winds on sal are reliable, and often very strong, between October to June, with few other destinations that offer such consistent conditions.
The large sandy beaches of Santa Maria and the south coast, provide an excellent environment for beginners to learn to body drag and the heavy waves of the west coast will keep the most hardcore of wave sailors occupied; there is a good reason why Cape Verdean, Mitu Monteiro, is current world champion!
