I live half a year in Porto Antigo 2, Sta. Maria since 2010. It is a beautiful condominium complex a few steps to the ocean and its lengthy beach. The most serious problem facing us who live here is the water shortage. Sometimes it is the electricity that is cut, hence no water. The are more tourists arriving in Sta Maria. There is an acute need to increase the water supply from the desalination plant, that is to say, increase the capacity of the plant to make water and augment the number of trucks delivering water to hotels, restaurants and private homes. How else can Sal which is the most tourist visited island sustain its tourism industry, not to forget foreign investment in properties.
